Northern portal of Marlborough tunnel. The battle to keep the chalk off the trackbed
now well and truly lost! In the late 1960's part of Marlborough Grammar School's cross country course was across
the top of the tunnel mouth, inside the boundary fence between the trees and the edge! Cannot quite see that being
allowed in today's risk averse culture. Monday 6th March 1978.
