2-8-0 No. 2887 in what looks like ex-works condition at Ludgershall with what is probably
the 14.30 engine and brake van working from Andover Junction to Swindon. This was the return leg of the 11.30
Swindon to Andover Junction goods that ran Monday to Saturday. It was most unusual to see anything other than a
63XX class 2-6-0 on this duty, so probably 2887 was a stand in for a failure. The loco was withdrawn from service
in July 1964, being cut up at Birds Yard in Risca sometime in 1965. Had it ended up in Barry, it might well be
