10th September 1961

What follows are photographs and articles of the two special rail tours that took place on 10th September 1961, the day after the last public train that travelled over the line that was the M&SWJR. The images that follow also include the papers that were handed out on the tours. These consist of a detailed route description, outline map, gradient profiles, track diagram for the Marlborough/Savernake area and a brief history with reference notes. I am greatly indebted to two men who were present on the SLS tour itself. Robert Darlaston and John Woodward, thank you very much indeed. I would also like to thank the SLS and RCTS. Without you, these rail tours may never have happened.
